Personally I really go too long between off-device backups. Something for automated backups to a PC would be valuable, and I suspect I'm not the only person who should be using it.
- thatcat 8y agoYou can use rsync over usb as described here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/343502/how-to-rsync-to-android/789898#789898 https://askubuntu.com/questions/343502/how-to-rsync-to-andro...
- voltagex_ 8y agoIf you're going to do that you may as well tether the phone to your PC and use rsync with ssh via termux [1] On 3 phones, I've never had MTP work well enough to trust it with backups. 1: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux

- laurent123456 8y agoI use SSHelper [0] on the Android device and use rsync to backup what I need. I've setup a cron on my laptop so whenever the phone is near it, it will automatically backup. [0] https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/index.html https://arachnoid.com/android/SSHelper/index.html
