Today, Los Angeles hit all-time-record high temperatures. This is with 1C change from pre-industrial climate. We are headed for 3C and Scott Pruitt is dedicated to accelerating that change. We'll be lucky if the overnight temperatures in L.A. fall below 120, after we've hit 3C. If there was real justice in this life, Pruitt would have been flayed alive by an angry mob, not merely allowed to resign.
- craftyguy 8y agoI dislike him as much as anyone, but was he really in office long enough to enact such devastating long-term change? It seems that many before him are as much to blame, if not more. Then there's donald, who will likely pick another shill to take pruitt's place.

- ebikelaw 8y agoI didn’t say he personally did it all, I said he was dedicated to that purpose. And why? Just greed.
- spoiledtechie 8y agoThis comment is disgusting. Why would you dare to cause harm to someone else. Maybe you should think that the SUN has more to do than any other to increase and decrease global warming. The SUN.. It is more than 1 MILLION times larger than the Earth. Anything it does with Solar flairs, heat waves and reduced cycles can cause the Earth to change drastically. Yet you decide to attack a person. Disgusting.
- craftyguy 8y ago> It is more than 1 MILLION times larger than the Earth. What does size have to do with anything? If you are alluding to energy production, the intensity of electromagnetic radiation (light) follows the inverse square law, so even though the Sun is 1 million times the volume of the Earth, it is very, very far away. This planet (and all planets) receive a minscule amount of the radiation that the Sun produces. > Anything it does with Solar flairs, heat waves and reduced cycles can cause the Earth to change drastically. Sure, but none of those have changed very much in the last few thousand years. The Sun is super stable at the moment, and the cyclical 11 year sunspot rhythm is as well (to the point of your solar flares). Meanwhile, the Earth's atmosphere has changed very drastically in the last 150 years. Both affect Earth's climate.. care to guess which one is affecting it now?
- lkrubner 8y agoPruitt helped, in some small way, to increase the harm that billions of people will suffer. Wishing him harm is merely self-defense. I'm not sure what kind of warped ethics you are working with, but self-defense is normally seen as a justified thing. And, anyway, it was just a comment on the Internet, no one was actually harmed.
- stephengillie 8y agoThe lack of eccentricity in Earth's orbit is partially to blame, heating our ice-ball very regularly - compared to other eons, where a more-elliptical orbit combined with a greater tilt to reduce solar efficacy. Further, the sun gets 1% smaller and brighter every 20 years[0], likely having some impact as well. - brian-armstrong 8y agoIn some sense, accelerating the change and destroying agricultural systems rapidly might be more merciful than the chaos of those systems slowly failing.
