i have a spare (identical) computer, i have backups on site and offsite of my disk images and virtual machines. in the smaller power plants I work in it is all single points of failure. one transformer, one hydraulic cylinder controlling the turbine flow, one hydraulic cylinder controlling the inlet valve, one PLC, one computer running the HMI software, one protection relay for the power line, one protection relay for the generator. if any one of the things fails everything stops.
