I hate to say and use it, but my best tool in situations like this is disposable credit card numbers via the privacy app. I make a best effort to close the account, and if that doesn’t work I cancel the temporary credit card I used to sign up for the service. Make sure to get your cancelation attempt in writing (email, etc) because some places will still try and collect.
