Ask HN: When is Wordpress the right choice for a website?
- RyanShook 8y agoMost of the developers I meet look down on Wordpress but when it comes to getting up and running quickly and support ecosystem Wordpress still seems hard to beat. Looking for balanced perspective from those both building and maintaining front-end/landing sites.
- bossx 8y agoIf you're building a blog and/or product sales site, it's pretty fast to get up and running. I wouldn't recommend it for an actual product web app.
- grawprog 8y agoI used WordPress to make a website for my boss when I was landscaping. He offered me the same wage I made landscaping to do it. After explaining to him I charged a fair bit more for that, he told me to make it in two days...so a shitty WordPress site he did receive. And i'm not saying WordPress itself is shitty. It's just a quickly thrown together two day WordPress site is shitty. I did manage to make it look decently nice and convey all the needed information well. It helped most of the competition's websites were also shitty WordPress sites that looked like they'd been thrown together in two days.
