Author could have sidestepped the whole political mess (considering it's tangential to the whole post) by calling sides "tumblr" and "4chan".
- ohtwenty 8y agoWhich is just a proxy for left/blue vs right/red, and since their post is on twitter --> mastodon that would be a really weird way to talk about it?
- iaml 8y agoBlue/red thing is mostly american politics, while I'd argue that tumblr vs 4chan is mostly abstracted from politics and more about world views and has lesser of a chance of hurting ego, which I believe would lead to more productive discussion. I know it's just semantics, but a lot of people are very emotionally invested in those colored labels.
