It changed after going public, for an obvious reason: ownership weights changed. That was also when Google Labs projected got demoted to a dustbin.
- ljw1001 8y agoNo thoughts on the Labs comment, but i think going public has a huge impact because every google employee's compensation is tied to the stock price (through stock grants). It's very hard to focus on non-monetary goals in that environment.
