There is nothing to suggest that ad-based-revenue is going away any time soon. The dwindling of Facebook users over the past couple years is hardly a drop in the bucket of use, and AFAIK they are still making money hand over fist. HN is very vocal about anti-ad, and for good reason (usually), but this low quality and offers nothing of substance.
