What do you do for heavy number crunching and the like?
- mark_l_watson 8y agoIn ancient history I used FORTRAN. For machine learning, which is my job, I use TensorFlow using the Keras APIs. There are a few interesting machine learning libraries in Common Lisp but I don’t use them professionally. I am experimenting with saving trained Keras models and converting them to a format with runtime code for Racket Scheme - I might open source that if I can improve the performance.
- marmaduke 8y agoI had previously toyed with numerical prototypes in typed Racket but could never get it fast enough. But, a typed dialect which transpiles to an OpenCL kernel might work.
- TheRealKing 8y agoIn modern history, I still use (modern) Fortran (as well as MATLAB, Python, and R). It does what I need to do, efficiently with minimal coding.
