When I first visited HM, my sentiments were the same. 'What on earth is this fucking thing? A site... for developers... that looks like it was written as a HTML text editor without the frills?' Over time my position has completely changed and I now adore HN for the charm of it's minimalist impression. Don't fix what isn't broken.
