He would yell at interns and generally treat people like shit, that was his communication style. The thing is, he is a genuinely nice person. It’s just that his negative view of the world seeped into his communication style, and rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I’m not disagreeing with your original point, though. You can get unfiltered career advice that may or may not align with whatever ideals the company claims to have.
