They only get paid for their time and insights. Our thesis is that the "insider" has in their head (even in the junior-most roles) incredible insight into what it takes to land a job they have, how to position their story, what recruiting timelines are like and more. This information is not available online always. Sometimes, it's never posted online at all. For the most competitive roles, you tell your team and they tell their friends and a pile of resumes come in before any "outsider" has a chance to figure out they're even hiring.
