i always think of https://thebaffler.com/ancestors/feminism-for-men https://thebaffler.com/ancestors/feminism-for-men (written in 1914 in a socialist publication) when reading something like what you wrote there.
I certainly don't get the date up part though. I'm kind of a loser (monetarily speaking) and only average looking, but it hasn't been that hard to get a date.
- Bombthecat 8y agoI remember a sex educator or psychologist or so on TV talking about the new sex scene with tinder and more openess to have random sex. And that it changed from 10 women having sex with 8 men to 8 women having sex with the two best looking and most famous guys. Aka more selective.
- johnny22 8y agoI've never used tinder (or anything like that) myself, nor do i for random hookups. It's just going out there and meeting people and making friends.
- johnny22 8y agoThey definitely deserve the chance to be selective. Most American men are just too boring. I wouldn't date them if i was into dudes.
- astura 8y agoMy casual sex partner is, almost by definition, not the person I'm looking to settle down and start a family with. In fact, half the appeal of casual sex is fucking someone you'd never date. So I fall to see what that has to do with what the GP is saying, which is men are being denied opportunities to have a family en mass. Which is kinda silly, honestly, I see unappealing men dating and getting married, having kids, all the time. Like the GP said, as long as you aren't hideous or have a hygene problem dating isn't particularly difficult for men if you're 1) pleasant and outgoing, 2) put some effort into it, and 3) not absurdly picky.
