This is nonsense, and comes across as exactly the case the author is talking about, a solution (no branches and PR's) looking for a problem (It must be trust, who can argue against increasing trust in the team). In our team, we have a huge amount of mutual trust and respect. We still PR, because it catches issues early, and improves overall quality.
