I wonder if this is just the inevitable trend that all great societies move towards--adding social safety nets programs to lessen the impact that "luck" and "timing" having with individual success.
- ianai 8y agoMy impression is that they move toward chaos. Rome used “bread and circuses” to keep the people occupied. Meanwhile power concentrated into the emperor. There’s probably no exact trend. But that golden eras are easier to identify.
