- PostOnce 8y agoWell, the neighbor beats his wife, so I might as well beat mine. What kind of logic is that? We don't necessarily need to match lock-step with terrible regimes to ensure our own security, and our own security is the only argument for matching them in the military field. For example, if someone else uses gas or landmines, we can use masks and airplanes to defeat them, without having to resort to those things that can't pick their targets, and remain on the field, where children play, decades after the war ends.
- carlosrg 8y agoRiiiight. For example, USA could abandon nuclear weapons, while letting others continue to develop them. That would work fine, both for them and their allies. If Hitler had them and the allies didn’t, that would have worked fine.
- PostOnce 8y agoWell, we are literally fighting Iranian nuclear weapons with computer viruses.
- ionised 8y agoI feel like you think this somehow proves a point.
- jeffreyrogers 8y agoThe point is that if you have a weak military you have to bow to will of the country with the stronger military if an altercation is imminent.
- pixl97 8y agoI'm guessing his point is "Taking a stand against war is great, right up till the enemy jackboots are stepping on your face"
- pofilat 8y agoWhy do I care what color are the jackboots? Why do you say China is wearing jackboots?
- izacus 8y agoNon-trivial number of Googlers are Chinese or Russian. ;)
