As an anecdote, when my team was moving to c++11 I decided to give a presentation on the important features, and when they should be used\avoided. I thought it would take a couple of hours to make a presentation, however it ended up taking me a fair bit longer because once I decided I wanted to tell other people about features, I felt I needed to know them inside out to be able to explain the inevitable questions.
What ended up happening was I gave my presentation and (I hope) the team learned a bunch, but I probably got the most out of it I think. I understand a lot of those concepts at a deeper level than I did before, and it's helped me a lot in my career.
