“While we regret that Google did not want to continue a long and fruitful tradition of collaboration between the military and technology companies, we are even more disappointed that Google apparently is more willing to support the Chinese Communist Party than the U.S. military,” they[0] wrote.
[0] The letter was signed by Republican Senators Tom Cotton and Marco Rubio, Republican Representatives Michael Conaway and Liz Cheney, and Democratic Representative Dutch Ruppersberger.
- mindslight 8y agoHaha, these shitheads are still trying to beat that long-dead horse. Good luck! While you can compel the public to fund your wars and other mayhem through taxation, you can't compel our mindshare. While you can keep fooling the ersatz-patriotism choir into thinking you're the good guys, you can't convince the community that's actually building the future. And while you will eventually be able to compel the surveillance companies into doing your bidding, we'll build new things that remove them from our lives as well.
- sremani 8y agoThey are more impatient than I thought. This is meant to be read between the lines. I would be amazed if some Google exec is not already on his/her way to D.C. to meet the esteemed Senators.
