There is only one way to study meditation. Do it. There is no Buddhist Pope that makes proclamations that you just have to accept on faith. There is no Buddhist scientific organization holding press conferences on their latest discoveries. It is all about practice and experience, the rest (and I know there is a lot of it..) is just fluff and colorful decoration. Ego is Small Mind, noisy mind, chattering monkey mind. When you quiet that through mediation you start to experience Big Mind, the source of intuition and wisdom and a clearer look at reality. But, as the ancient books say, it is nothing special.
