Those that know their history better could expand upon this, but isn't this what happened in the late 1800s and early 1900s where globalization peaked and then gave way to nationalism/protectionism ?
Perhaps we're just dealing with a natural cycle of trade expansion followed by protectionism.

- Tharkun 8y agoPerhaps it is a natural cycle, but that doesn't mean we have to stop fighting it.
- TimJYoung 8y agoI think you misunderstood me. What I'm saying is that perhaps we are in the fighting portion of the cycle where free trade has reached some extreme where individual nations feel like they need to rein it in a bit in order to retain their autonomy.
