(Illegal in the sense that it contravenes treaties we have signed, that it contravenes our principles of due process, that asylum seekers who willfully turn themselves in for asylum application at the border are lumped in...) Straw man. the evil IS occurring, it IS a measured ratcheted NEW set of developments under Sessions and by extension Trump, and it is oddly occurring at a time when illegal immigration is in a lull. There literally is no illegal immigration crisis in 2018 and yet these extremists are whipping up the public on purpose to pursue a dubious agenda of trying to capitalize on the national immigration policy drama Ever wonder why Trump could claim (truthfully) that deportations were down in 2017 relative to Obama? Because they have generally been correlated to illegal entry numbers, which have been going down since drum roll the financial crisis, which has resulted in stagnant wages on the bottom and less incentive to seek work in America. However, now we have a radical administration in office that suddenly sends ICE squads door to door to houses and places of employment actively raiding and deporting people who were out of status but at zero risk of deportation, before, including many pending processes, several hundred US military veterans, and spouses of US citizens who fell through one crack or another. the entire punitive and sanctimonious tone of the immigration debate in America has become a circus of mindless cruelty and one-ups-man-ship. Despicable.
