"So you think we should lock up the children of criminals when the criminal is arrested?"
And this is why I can't take you seriously; you are very clearly not arguing in good faith.
"I wish you could objectively hear what your argument sounds like to someone who's neutral on this issue."
You are very clearly not neutral on this issue. And quite frankly, I don't want to meet someone who's "neutral" on the idea of separating children from their parents, and locking them up.
- malvosenior 8y agoIllegal immigration is illegal. If you do it you are literally a criminal. How is that not arguing in good faith? > I don't want to meet someone who's "neutral" on the idea of separating children from their parents, and locking them up. You meet people that support the law and legal immigration (but not illegal) all of the time. Most people hold this opinion.
- s73v3r_ 8y agoBecause this is affecting those who show up to apply for asylum as well. That is not illegal. Not to mention that crossing the border is a misdemeanor. Comparing that to something like murder is not discussing in good faith. "You meet people that support the law and legal immigration (but not illegal) all of the time. Most people hold this opinion." Again, there is no law whatsoever that states that the government must separate children from parents at the border. Not a single one. And I choose not to associate with people who would support such a barbaric and inhumane practice. They may hold whatever opinions they wish on the subject of immigration, but once they issue support for these inhumane practices, I lose all respect for them and their positions.
