I worked for a company that did integration work for the IBM market. Every Fortune 500 retailer we dealt with had zOS playing a big role in their enterprise and did not seem to have any plans to change that. Lack of a CS degree didn't hold back any of my coworkers. Most had some form of STEM degree but the degree didn't matter for experienced hires. It's tough getting that first job experience though. Don't overlook OpenText though they hire a lot from U of Waterloo.
