Bitcoin with Heterogeneous Block Sizes: A Scaling Proposal
- stephan_matt 8y agoWhat I found interesting about this is that it takes away power from developers and gives it to users. Typically the source code imposes some settings that affect security and usability. In crypto these are in opposition most of the time. Here each address has a permission-less setting for security vs throughput.
- ijiji 8y agodozens of networks already use variable block size caps
- stephan_matt 8y agoThat is not what the work is about. Not at all. In fact it removes caps. It's wise to read things first, talk about them later.
- mrlyon 8y agoThe article isn't about caps. Also, that statement is plain wrong. Any major blockchain has a FIXED block size cap to prevent DoS attacks. Raising the size cap demands a hardfork agreed by the whole network. Otherwise the network would split, as was the case with BTC and BCH.
- shiftmodxor 8y agoYou're wrong. And the link isn't about changing the block cap.
