Strange that, considering the companies were founded and named when the technology was still current. Of course "Carphone Warehouse" (the trading name of the company that merged with Dixons to become Dixons Carphone) probably does sound incredibly strange to anyone who wasn't alive in the carphone era, but they were a strong high street brand so I can see why they stuck with it.
