Ask HN: Solo business? What's been your experience?

I work in a corporate environment, but have long dreamed about building a software product and running my own business. If I can sell enough copies of my product to sustain a full-time living, that would make me happy. For those of you who run a solo software business, what's been your experience (good or bad) of being the only employee?
