For me, removing email on my phone was "hard" at first, but literally just do it. It's been maybe a year since I've done it. For "emergencies" I have an "icloud" email that I treat as my phone email if I need someone to send me tickets or something that NEEDS to get get to my phone, but that's it. No notifications, just let it be intentional that you check it, and use it.
