When people can charge whatever they want, its a free market right?
- tekknik 8y agoexcept you missed the monopolies part. in most cases consumers have only 1 ISP to chose from so small companies won’t help here.
- gitgud 8y agoYes, but it could open up opportunity for new smaller players. I don't think their monopoly would last very long, if cheaper options became available. https://apply.nectolab.io https://apply.nectolab.io https://startyourownisp.com https://startyourownisp.com
- singhrac 8y agoI'm optimistic too, about the creation of new ISPs, but it'll take a long time. Necto Lab is only taking 5 small ISPs right now, and the number of new ISPs created as a result of startyourownisp.com can't be that many (there's a 25k capital requirement, at the very minimum). My rural town will likely not see the benefits from competition for a long time.
