The other non-dairy milks at the grocery store are also named after their appearance. No one is trying to trick someone into drinking almond milk, the almond part is clearly labeled. But it's a white liquid used for many of the same things as dairy milk, it's not confusing to call it a milk. I also purchase almond flour and I have never been confused that it wasn't actually wheat.
