To be fair, there were quite a few voices against it, but they were mostly ignore if not belittled by telling them to write a paper or be quiet. [1] If you only take people's opinion serious when they operate in a committee manner, then you shouldn't be surprised that despite your invested time, people eventually will rise up and stop the work. Also just because some people invested a lot of hours doesn't simply satisfy the condition to force something in the standard that is still far away from finished. Sunk cost fallacy anyone?
