Do you advocate taking money or property from people who are working and giving it to this who aren’t? Is it more just that the worker is forced to work to house themselves but to also house someone else?
Is that freedom?
- EliRivers 8y agoThat's taxes, right? I suspect (but cannot prove) that if we somehow managed to plot a graph of taxes and freedom, the peak freedom would come somewhere between zero tax and 100% tax.
- neinrand 8y agoAyn Rand, are you back from the dead? But seriously, that’s called taxation, and it’s a small price to pay for lovely amenities like roads and local government.
- gdulli 8y agoIt is a small price. I'll even go crazy and say the world is better for me if I don't have wade through a sea of homeless people daily. Perhaps that deprives me of the satisfaction of seeing the pure justice or logic behind my ability determining my success while others with less ability live with the consequences of their failure. But I'm okay with it.
- ttonkytonk 8y agoNotice I didn't say a right to housing, but a right to a place. As in a lot of land, where presumably I could build my own structure, or at least pitch a tent. Realistically speaking, the solution could be a guaranteed housing subsidy for all regardless of income, so those that do "pay their own way" aren't penalized.
- acct1771 8y agoThe mountains etc are always ready for new inhabitants, and you're unlikely to be disturbed.
- ttonkytonk 8y agoI believe I have a right to somewhere reasonably close.
