Regulating it properly will ease the insane price pressure at least a bit, and failing to regulate it just feeds into NIMBY arguments. I'm a YIMBY because people need homes where there are jobs, not because I think all problems are solved by the free market. A home is a fundamental human need. A hotel isn't.
