There's a reason we aren't discussing a shortage of plastic molders, but glass blowers. The article specifically mentions the important qualities of glass to research that plastics do not solve.
- detaro 8y agoDevils advocate: glass 3D printing is a thing too. I'm skeptical though that it'll be a viable alternative to blown glass soon, especially not in-house.
- code_duck 8y agoI find it likely that they will find a way to do this. Current technology is using a silica/polymer mix and fusing it bit by bit with a laser.
