I took a new job and had the opportunity to pick my computer. After using a personal Mac laptop for a few weeks I wasn’t happy with the performance of the tools, so I took a chance and got a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2018. I am really happy with it. It’s running Ubuntu 18.04, the performance is really good. I have the 2560x1440 screen and I don’t use scaling; it’s small but I have lots of real estate. I like how light it is and how well it makes use of its form factor. I like the keyboard, I also like that I don’t need to worry about a stray hair causing my E key to stop working. The only issues I had were some changes that needed to be made to system configuration so that it would sleep properly.
