I work as a consultant at a multi-discipline engineering consultancy, where we get to work on cross-discipline projects involving both mechanics, hardware and software. It is quite interesting, although not in the "advanced CS"-way but more in the "I get to build a windmill"-way :) I know that many of these consultancies exist where I am, so it should not be impossible to find something similar, wherever you are located.
