I'm not sure what I'm expecting to be honest, but I never use any of the in-built macOS apps so I just skim over those announcements. They don't seem like they should be part of what's considered the OS.
- saagarjha 8y agoWhy not? Would you rather macOS shipped with no system apps?
- sullyj3 8y agoI think they mean that the stock apps should be updated separately to the OS, like any normal app
- seanwilson 8y agoI guess I'm expecting system wide features that only Apple could add because they involving updating the underlying OS. Adding group chat to their video chat app that I never use for example isn't that interesting to me and shouldn't require an OS update.
- pier25 8y agoSystem apps like Terminal, Disk Utility, Preview, etc. Yes. Stocks, News, iTunes, Maps, Photos, Mail, etc, should be optional.
- alexhayes 8y agoTotally agree - and from a tech point I imagine they probably don't require a new OS (perhaps in most cases). However I imagine it's probably a good way to get people to stay up to date with the latest OS: "Oh, I want that shiny new app, I must update"
