Was I crazy in thinking that this WWDC was supposed to address MacBookPro's being outdated?
- Tomte 8y agoNo, but it was always a "may happen, may not happen" thing. WWDC is about software first and foremost. This year they decided not to dilute it with anything hardware. That wasn't a given, but it wasn't surprising, either.
- xrisk 8y agoYes. It's a software conference.

- wuliwong 8y agoLast year they announced the HomePod and the iMac pro.
- brchr 8y agoWWDC 2009: 13" MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS announced WWDC 2010: iPhone 4 announced WWDC 2012: Retina MacBook Pro announced WWDC 2013: new Mac Pro, Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, and MacBook Air announced WWDC 2017: iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, 10.5" iPad Pro and HomePod announced
- notatoad 8y agoSo in the last 9 years, 5 have had major hardware announcements? Hardly seems like a trend.
- cosmojg 8y ago5/9 is a majority of conferences. I think OP made a fair assumption.
- philwelch 8y ago5/9 is also approximately half, and 5/10 is exactly half.
- yborg 8y agoSo, by definition, most of them? Seems like a trend.
- rconti 8y agoWell, now, 5 of the last 10. and more recently, 1 of the last 5.
- notatoad 8y agoIts currently 2018. Going back to 2009 = 9 years
- crispinb 8y agoBut perhaps an important one for Apple. Anecdotally at least (which is probably the best we can do here), concerns about Apple hardware are making many pro users, particularly developers, think seriously for the first time in years about moving platforms. Each significant date (WWDC, autumn hardware releases, etc) is a focus of procrastination for those of us a little reluctant to move OS's, but seriously thinking of doing so. My guess is that on each of these lost opportunities another group bleeds away. Perhaps not significant to Apple, but -- who knows? -- mindshare can be about more than just numbers.
- dr_ 8y agoThat and I think many people were hoping the keyboard issue would be addressed in some way, which didn’t happen.
- toephu2 8y agoYes, hardware refresh normally comes later in the year (September).
- Prefinem 8y agoI was in the same boat waiting excitedly the whole time.
- PerfectElement 8y agoI was waiting for this to decide on what will replace my MacBook Pro 2014. Since there were no news here, I'll order the new XPS today.
- SmellyGeekBoy 8y agoYes. Groundbreaking new animoji technology is far more important.
- wmeredith 8y agoYes. Apple doesn’t really do hardware at WWDC. It would have been an anomaly.
