It can indeed be hard to judge, and situations may change. Before moving to my current house I asked around and got the impression that it was fairly quiet late at night; this turned out to be mostly true. But, a new hotel was completed after I moved and it turns out that my street is the easiest route for drunken guests to take back to that hotel if they've been out on the town.
