I've been running Ubuntu 18.04 on my XPS 15 since release, and was running 16.04 for some time before that. Both work really well. Other distros did not work well out of the box. Ubuntu seems to have the out-of-the-box experience nailed (although I had to install and adjust tlp to get good battery life - now it's much better than it was under Windows)
