The sort of person who goes for a job in the public eye is not the sort of person who is mentally stable. The constant need for validation from other will in due course found to be yet another mental illness.
That entertainment industries are filled with people like this suffering while being ridiculously successful is a universal across virtually all media.
- xenihn 8y ago>The constant need for validation from other will in due course found to be yet another mental illness. Do personality disorders count as mental illness, or are they distinct?
- zeth___ 8y agoHow many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Psychology is fad based, mostly bullshit and still not able to deal with the fact that correlation does not imply causation. So to answer your question: who cares, these people need help.
- xenihn 8y agoWhat if they don't want help?
- collyw 8y agoMost alcoholics don't want help. Doesn't mean they don't need it.
- gowld 8y agoIn psychological science "personality disorders" are a class of so-called "disorders" that other people believe are bad, but that the person with the "disorder" does not believe is bad. It is controversial to claim that someone with a "personality disorder" needs help. - perl4ever 8y ago'"personality disorders" are a class of so-called "disorders" that other people believe are bad but that the person with the "disorder" does not believe is bad' I don't think that's accurate. A "personality disorder" doesn't necessarily involve anosognosia, nor is it limited to things that cause conflict with other people like borderline or narcissistic personality disorders.
- collyw 8y agoYou are being down voted but I see some truth in what you say. I wouldn't go as far as to say its a mental illness but there definitely seems some narcissism in wanting to be a youtube star.
- wlkjd 8y agoNot everyone goes into the public eye because they're mentally ill, but having worked in entertainment, there was definitely a higher percentage of mentally unstable people. I could never tell if they got that way or came into the business that way. I'd say for actors, at least, most of them are mentally off in some way or another.
