I think most of the people on HN are well off and apparently considering considerable sacrifice over a significant period of time to have odds of getting rich.. When asked why, they need only the things they would get from living 5 years of an imperfectly richer life first? (Is there a probable way to get from an education and/or 25k in the bank to the rest of rich in less than 5 years and/or with better partial benefits during the interval?)
