Paddle has hilariously bad security for downloadable products, so I wouldn't trust them very far. FastSpring seems decent, and what I finally went with for "I don't want to think about taxes please".
- j45 8y agoI see. I'm not affiliated with Paddle, but but am setting them up for a saas service - would you say Paddle better for saas?
- seanwilson 8y agoHow does FastSpring differ in terms of security? If your app doesn't have a server-side component, it's going to get cracked eventually. You should make it a little annoying to crack but any more time than that isn't worth it in my opinion.
- itamarst 8y agoWith Paddle if I know URL of product in store I know URL of product download. It's trivial to get free download. With FastSpring they make at least some effort to make URL unguessable. It's not that what FastSpring is a real impediment to piracy (once something is downloaded it's game over anyway), it's more that Paddle's implementation was so clueless I figured probably other parts of their system were similarly bad.
- seanwilson 8y agoUnless I'm missing something, you're meant to integrate a license key unlock into your Paddle app so I don't see how guessing the download URL makes a difference.
- ezekg 8y agoHave you thought of using something different like https://keygen.sh https://keygen.sh that handles licensing and licensed distribution, on top of a payment provider like FastSpring/Paddle? Disclaimer: I’m the founder. :)
