The last comment is locking the issue because too many people are responding saying the same thing. This comment makes me want to reply and say the same thing too, but I can't now.
- freditup 8y agoLocking a discussion with zero-unreasonable responses as "too heated" is bad optics, but I think locking the discussion is a pragmatic decision, as the NPM team has been alerted about the issue and any meaningful comments would get lost in the noise otherwise.
- stonogo 8y agoInstead, they're just regular lost. Not much of an improvement.
- phyzome 8y agoIt's likely that the "too heated" is GitHub putting words in the mouth of the repo admins. I don't think you get to choose the text of that message. ETA: The options are "off-topic", "too heated", "resolved" and "spam". It looks like you can also elect to not give a reason, though...
- gpvos 8y agoOne of the last few messages before that, by wgrant, was helpful in solving the problem. They might have missed that if they had closed the thread a little bit earlier.
- thsowers 8y agoI think this is one reason GitHub rolled out the "thumbs-up" reactions, too many comments just state "+1", which pollutes actual technical discussion, but at the same time it is crucial to know if many people have the same issue
- yeukhon 8y agoIf they are annoyed by the spam, they can “mute”.
- johannes1234321 8y agoThis doesn't help if I see the problem and want to see last update from the developer, but all I see is a wall of memes.
