I was surprised to read that the US regulators feel they have jurisdiction to regulate bitcoin transactions. How can this be - is it just because there are BTC futures now?
- brazzy 8y agoHow could they possibly not have jurisdiction when a large percentage of bitcoin traders and several large exchanges are in the US?
- Taniwha 8y agomore than that - the blockchain is global, reconciliation happens everywhere - and that doesn't mean that no country's laws apply to it, it means that ALL of them potentially do
- lagadu 8y agoBecause fraud laws have no provision about them only being applicable to USD or any specific currency, plus there's the whole debacle of whether BTC is a security or a commodity, both of which fall under their own set of regulations.
