The best part-time gig I had was working 4 hours a workday remotely. I'd start at 5 and finish by 9, which left the rest of the day to do anything I wanted. I got as much done as the other (mobile) developer who worked full-time. I find 40 hours a week to be tolerable if I'm working remotely. Unfortunately I have a 2.5 hour commute for my current gig, and it's sucking up all my personal time.
