I went the surgery route, I had a Microdiscectomy. It was a minimally invasive surgery which I felt relief immediately after. Before the surgery I was barely able to walk and couldn't sit down for more than 10 minutes at a time. After about a week of taking it very easy I was able to return to work where I sit in a chair most of the day. I was given the choice of physical therapy or surgery, I couldn't stand the pain much longer and wanted to stay away from opioids, so I chose surgery. Sometimes after heavy activity it flairs up and gets sore but it's completely manageable, enough where I don't have to take anything for the pain.
