Totally anecdotal, but my grandpa is 90, and he made it a point to learn how to use facebook and youtube. (I saw him on Facebook the other day when I visited him.) He wanted to be able to follow family and see everyone's pictures and whatnot. He was always into learning tech and liked gadgets though. I remember in the early 90s he had a car phone. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, and he was the only person I knew with one.
