When the land is sold who earns that money ? How do the foreign companies grow produce ? Do they employ local people ? From examples of India I personally feel the real issue here is the inability of the country to clearly enforce property rights and especially for poor and tribal people. (Tribal people might be better off selling off land to richer corporation and working in those fields as an employee)
