If the author had bought a reasonably priced car (TM) the calculations and conclusions would likely be very different. Hell, his second car is reasonably priced (or reasonably old), but the egregiousness of the first car still invalidates all his conclusions. Had he had a reasonably priced car, there's no way uber would be cheaper.
