So, what are the best alternatives? I know about MS office and I think Zoho has email, who else is out there?

- GFischer 8y agoI'm using Zoho and have a good experience so far, they had some issues in the past but at least my experience with support is good. When I looked into it, there weren't many appealing options. I wanted to use Yahoo but they had just spun out and wasn't too friendly. I couldn't get a Microsoft platform for e-mail without them bundling Office365 and other stuff I didn't want, if not I'd have gone with them.
- lgregg 8y agoWhat types of issues did you encounter?
- GFischer 8y agoIn particular, I remember an outage a year ago that was very ill-timed for me (as we were hyping our project) and they were a little slow to respond, it was literally a perfect storm as their offices in Chennai were hit by a Cyclone: https://www.zoho.com/service-updates/blog/zoho-customer-support-is-slow.html https://www.zoho.com/service-updates/blog/zoho-customer-supp... they have also had more outages than GMail (but OTOH they have way better customer support, I was even reached by the CEO once!). Outages list: https://twitter.com/nehemiahman/status/921378260583362560 https://twitter.com/nehemiahman/status/921378260583362560 I still think it's the best available option.
- flukus 8y agoIf you think switching to other cloud solutions is the answer here then I think you missed the problem. The core problem with any of these services is that you no longer have control over your data.
- lgregg 8y agoI do understand the underlying problem, it's more or less looking for the one that treats the service as that... a service rather than myself as their product. I could start my own mail server, but I'm not at that point yet.
